Biennial of the Americas Festival

Celebrating the Americas in Denver

2019 Festival:

  • The 2019 festival theme was “Empathy in Action” and showcased the people and ideas across North and South America that are moving beyond divisions to build solutions to the most important issues we face together.

  • Our exhibit of A Mile in My Shoes received over 4,000 visitors and featured 30 Denver storytellers, including Dafna Michaelson Jenet, Suzi Q. Smith and Ryan Foo.

  • At the 2019 Americas Symposium we heard from three compassionate women leaders, Valeria Alberola, Clare Patey and Michelle Sie Whitten about the role of strong female leadership and the power of empathy in purpose driven work.

  • During our keynote at the Americas Symposium we heard from Sir Richard Branson, Founder of Virgin Group and Jorge Ramos, Anchorman of Univision during a fireside chat. They discussed entrepreneurial leadership, taking risks and the qualities of a visionary leader.

  • Over 10,000 people joined us in Civic Center Park on September 28th for Cósmico Americas, featuring Jaguara-- a stunning light sculpture and stage for our five local and international bands, including Mucho Indio, Jackie Mendoza, Systema Solar and local band Kiltro! After dusk the City and County building was lit up with the digital light projections by Colombian artist Catalina Estrada and Japanese artist Akira Hasegawa.
