Andrea Ixchíu is a Maya K'iche woman from Totonicapán, Guatemala.
Land protector, communitarian communicator, audiovisual producer and cultural manager. She has held various positions as a communal indigenous authority in her town.
For more than 15 years she has been working in processes for the care of life and territories of indigenous peoples. She is co-founder of the initiatives: Hackeo Cultural, Futuros Indígenas, Festivales Solidarios.
Consultant at Culture Hack Labs that supports organizations, social movements and activists to create narratives for systems change.Andrea is a Nobel Women’s Initiative Fellow, Ford Global Fellow, Christensen Fellow, Bertha Foundation Fellow and was awarded with the Sakharov Prize Fellowship provided by the European Parliament which honors individuals and groups who defend human rights and freedom of expression.
Since 2022 he has been living in exile in Mexico.
