Perla Bustillos
Director of Membership and Events at Biennial of the Americas (Colorado)
Perla Bustillos is the Director of Membership and Events at the Biennial of the Americas. Her background is focused on making a positive impact on communities through organization operations, community engagement, and event planning. Her passion is fostering connections and creating meaningful experiences to bring people together.
Perla was born Delicias, Chihuahua Mexico and raised in Denver, Colorado where she grew to embrace and merge two beautiful cultures into her own. As a former DACA recipient, she embraced the barriers and advocated for those who were looking to be seen and heard just like herself. As a Co-Founder of Ednium: The Alumni Collective, Perla engaged Denver Public School alumni and created opportunities for them to share their authentic selves and build connections for themselves that lived beyond the organization. She has supported communities and organizations through roles like Chief Operating Officer and Director of Programs (now board member) at Colorado Equitable Economic Mobility and as Deputy Director of Public Engagement for the City and County of Denver. She is a proud MSU Denver alumni and credits her accomplishment to the support systems at Denver Scholarship Foundation where she currently sits on the Alumni Advisory Board.
In her spare time, Perla enjoys exploring the great outdoors, trying new culinary experiences, baking delicious treats or planning trips with her husband and family. Perla is delighted to join the Biennial of the Americas and is looking forward to building relationships and learning from its community.
