Andrea Blankenship

Deputy Director, International Sales | Colorado Tourism Office

Andrea Blankenship currently serves as the Deputy Director of International Sales for the Colorado Tourism Office, which she joined in July 2016. The international team of the Colorado Tourism Office works with in-market representatives to promote Colorado internationally to media, travel trade, and consumers.

Moving into tourism was a natural fit for Andrea, who spent 21 years in the airline industry in Sales and Marketing. Her airline career began in 1994 with Lufthansa German Airlines in Miami as a Management trainee, and progressed into Sales Management in 1997. After a time in Chicago, Andrea moved to Denver as District Sales Manager in 2001 to launch the first Lufthansa nonstop service between Frankfurt and Denver. She completed her time with Lufthansa as acting General Manager of Canada and as District Sales Manager in New York City, enjoying the challenge of working in one of the most competitive markets in the world.

In the summer of 2007, Andrea took the position of Director of Sales for Frontier Airlines in Denver, to increase her knowledge of the domestic market and the low cost carrier business model. In addition to corporate and leisure sales, the position gave her exposure to online travel agency sales channels, distribution strategies, and marketing.

A Minnesota native, Andrea earned a Bachelor of Science degree in International Business Management and a Bachelor of Arts degree in German from St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota. She completed her Executive MBA at the University of Denver in 2015. Her favorite activities are adventure travel and all things Colorado – hiking, biking, skiing, and anything outdoors enjoying nature.
