Andy Mountain has counseled some of the nation’s leading non-profits, corporations, law firms, government and quasi-governmental agencies for more than 25 years. A community-builder at heart, Andy has a passion for forging coalitions and collaborations that help create amazing places. Andy has had a hand in shaping some of the most prominent public- and private-development projects that have transformed the Rocky Mountain West over the last 20+ years. He has also helped some of the nation’s most influential non-profits strategize their futures; develop, launch and grow key business initiatives, strengthen their advocacy and community engagement programs, and optimize their business processes and organizational structures and for maximum social impact.
Among the most prevalent efforts Andy has played a central role in are: developing and growing a financial-exploitation prevention program responsible for stopping more than $200 million from being stolen from older adults; revitalizing Denver’s vibrant River North neighborhood; structuring and strengthening the advocacy and field organizations of some of the most influential non-profits in the country; helping plan and launch a world-renowned, 11,000-acre art center nestled in the shadows of Montana’s Beartooth Mountains; planning, designing and building coalitions of support for half of the Denver region’s multi-billion dollar FasTracks transit expansion program; and protecting a 172,000-acre Southern Colorado ranch from devastating industrial development that would’ve harmed wildlife and scarred iconic Colorado views.
Prior to joining GBSM in 2004, Andy had a career in corporate communications that included positions with Microsoft and MCI. He also worked as a communications consultant for regional and international communications firms in Denver and Washington D.C.
A member of the Colorado Forum and a 2006 Leadership Denver graduate, Andy is an active leader in Colorado’s civic and business communities. He holds a variety of board and advisory positions with organizations focusing on arts, education and community building. He earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Maryland at College Park. The only things he loves more than his Terps and March Madness are his wife, Jade, and their two children.
