Diego MIranda is ostarican historian that has a outstanding role in San José during the last 8 years.
Born on January 2th 1990 in Zapote, San José.His family has close relationships with the development of San José. His father, Alberto Miranda Méndez has been a local entrepreneur and his mother Marielos Méndez has been a school teacher for several years.
DIego graduated from the Liceo Rodrigo Facio Brenes, located in his hometown. Diego has a Licentiate in History from the University of Costa Rica, and a Master Degree in Anti-corruption politics from the University of Salamanca, Spain.
During 2016 . Diego was elected as councilor of the Municipality of San José, a space in which he quickly stood out for its role as a critical voice of the administration,denouncing multiple irregular events, such as irregular usage of public funds, questionable management of solid waste, among others.
He’s known because of listening to the citizens of diverse sectors across San José, such as security services for the people, waste management, city cleaning, the protection of historical places within San José, culture and arts in public areas, economical dynamics across the city, among others. All this has led to be recognized as the best councilor during his 8 years in office, elevating the level of the discussions and actions in the Municipal Council.
In 2020 he was key to founding the local cantonal party Juntos San José, which unites common interests for the benefit of our capital city.
In February 2024 he was elected as Mayor of San José, being the first elected Mayor to win after almost 35 years of having the same Mayor in the city.
