Marianela Urgellés Batalla

Marianela Urgellés is the Managing Director of CINDE. This organization has played a pivotal role since its establishment in 1982 in attracting foreign direct investment and enhancing the business climate and investment ecosystem in Costa Rica. Marianela joined CINDE in 2023, following a 25-year tenure at Intel. She embarked on her professional journey at Intel in 1997 during the inception of the Assembly and Testing factory in Costa Rica. Over the initial decade, she held various managerial positions within factory operations, including Manufacturing Systems, New Product Introduction, Industrial Engineering, and Site Project Management. Subsequently, she transitioned to a distinguished 15-year leadership trajectory in Finance. In this capacity, she served as the first local Operations Controller, Site Controller, Intel Costa Rica Site leadership team member, and Director of both the Global Finance Services Center and Intel's Financial Modernization program, reporting directly to Intel’s CFO.
Marianela is a catalyst for transformation and a fervent advocate for inclusion. She sponsored the International Network of Women Executives in Finance and was a founding member of the Latin America Women Executives Network. She spearheaded the inaugural Global Finance Conference and received the CFO award thrice. She has been ranked among the Top 100 MERCO's Most Reputable Leaders in Costa Rica. Marianela earned her Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of
Costa Rica and her MBA from the University of Phoenix. She has been happily married for 23 years and is the proud mother of three boys, aged 19, 17, and 10. Her interests include traveling, photography, and reading. She relishes her daily morning walks with her dogs, Mocca and Lucy.
