Marcela is widely recognized as a collaborator, connector and community leader. Throughout her career she has worked closely with local governments, grass-roots organizations, public-private partnerships,
faith-based programs, and other community leaders to facilitate family involvement and engagement in community organization, education, healthcare, sports, culture, and the arts.
Over her career, Marcela has worked extensively with both vocational and higher education on international initiatives and collaborations. She is also known for her experience and track record in
international relations, protocol, and trade. She has assisted numerous companies, non-profits and individuals on international business and cross-border collaborations by organizing and managing trade
missions to Mexico.
Marcela worked for 23 years at the Consulate General of Mexico in Denver, where she served in various leadership roles in Community Affairs, Cultural Affairs, Political Affairs and Education. Over her impressive
24 year career as the Executive Director of the Mexican Cultural Center, Marcela dedicated herself to the advancement of Mexican art and culture in Colorado. Because of her work in the arts, in 2017 the MCC
was recognized by the City of Denver with the Mayor’s Award for Cultural Impact. Recognition for her impact in the community include local and international recognitions: 2017
Telemundo Community Leader of the Year; 2011 Baseball Colorado Rockies Hispanic Leadership Award; 2018 National Football League (NFL) Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award, 2018 “Unsung Heroine” by
Latinas First Foundation, 2018 Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce “25 Most Powerful Women in Colorado” and 2020 Bonfils-Stanton Foundation “Community Service in the Arts”.
Marcela currently serves as a Mayoral Appointee and Vice Chair of the Board of Governors of Denver Zoo, Gubernatorial appointee, and Secretary of the Board of SCFD (Scientific and Cultural Facilities District),
she also serves as the Chairwoman of the Mexican Cultural Center (MCC), Chairwoman of Colorado Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, as well as a Board Member of the World Trade Center Denver, and
Children Diabetes Foundation. Past Boards include Museum of Contemporary Art, Children’s Museum, Hispanic Chamber Foundation, the Emily Griffith Foundation; Global Chamber Denver, American Red
Cross-Mile High Chapter. She is also a founding member of Latina Safe House, an organization that provides critical services to Latina survivors of domestic violence and their families.
Marcela is active in her family’s businesses including DelMar Resources LLC – an energy investment company; Diplomatic Solutions Inc. – a consulting business; and Fair Capital LLC – an international real
estate investment and development company.
Marcela was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and holds a B.S in Marketing and International Relations from the Universidad del Valle de Atemahac in Mexico, and she is fluent in Spanish. She enjoys community engagement, international affairs, the arts, culture, travel, and exploring the Sea of Cortez and the islands in Turks and Caicos"
