CultureHop: Leon Gallery

  • Leon Gallery 1112 East 17th Avenue Denver, CO, 80218 United States (map)

Culture Club Member Event

For this week’s CultureHop, Culture Club Members will be hopping over to Leon Gallery to see the current exhibition The Peace Found by artist Fitz Lewis and to hear from gallery directors Eric Nord and Eric Dallimore about running one of Denver’s greatest non-profit galleries.

About the Artist: Fitz Joseph Lewis (they/them) (b. 1983, Mark Joseph Fitzsimmons, Kansas City, Mo.) is a Denver based interdisciplinary conceptual and artist. The artist asks what we value - the object or the action; the symbol or what the symbol represents. Influenced by their history of violence, Lewis plays with the humble materials that permeated their abusive childhood and time in combat zones. The work is an outcome of the artist deconstructing and healing from the values that were violently instilled within them.

About CultureHop: The Biennial of the Americas' CultureHop program is designed to bring Culture Club members closer to the vibrant art and cultural scenes across the Americas right here in Denver. CultureHop invites participants to join curated Friday morning tours of artist studios, galleries, museums, and cultural spaces. Each week, members will "hop" between different creative venues, offering them an intimate and behind-the-scenes experience with local artists, curators, and cultural leaders. Meetups will feature coffee and pastries from local coffee shops.

The program provides a unique opportunity to engage with local artists, spaces and galleries to explore diverse cultural expressions, and foster meaningful connections within the arts community. It's a great way for art enthusiasts and cultural explorers to stay connected to the creative pulse of Denver and build greater appreciation for the Americas.
