In traditional Korean funeral processions, every person would receive an elaborate boat adorned with guardians riding animals that were meant to guide them safely to the spirit realm. These processions were a part of every funeral, no matter what class the person had belonged to while alive. As we've said countless goodbyes during the tragedy of the pandemic, it's important to wish and pray for a safe journey to those who need to travel on to the next dimension. This piece illustrates the journey of the kokdu and those that follow them.
