Monica Martinez

Monica Martinez has been the Executive Director of The Fax Partnership since June 2015. The Fax is a growing community development corporation based on the East Colfax corridor. The Fax's mission is to support and strengthen residents and businesses along East Colfax while advocating for equitable development. In 2022, The Fax purchased two East Colfax motels that have since been converted to shelter. Monica has a Master of public policy from The University of Texas at Austin LBJ School of Public Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts from UC Berkeley. She has been working in the public policy and real estate spaces in Denver since 2003. From 2006-2012, Monica worked at Zocalo Community Development and helped Zocalo construct the State of Colorado’s first LEED-Gold apartment building. From 2003-2006, Monica worked as a Mayoral Appointee for Mayor Hickenlooper and was the policy lead that drafted the Mayor’s Affordable Housing Plan. She also co-created a mentorship program The Urban Land Institute now runs for women and minorities within the real estate field. Monica has served on a number of nonprofit boards in Denver, including Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains and Mi Casa Resource Center, is a founding member of Mothers Advocating for Affordable housing and is politically active in her community. Monica loves to play soccer, ride ocean waves and hit amazing restaurants.
