Andrea Fulton
Deputy Director, Chief Strategy Officer | Denver Art Museum
Andrea Kalivas Fulton is deputy director and chief strategy officer for the Denver Art Museum (DAM). She oversees the Museum’s earned revenue strategies, including marketing, membership and communications, as well as government affairs and strategic partnerships and initiatives. She recently led a major renovation and expansion effort for the Museum’s 1971 Gio Ponti-designed North Building, which opened in fall 2021.
Early in her career at the DAM, Fulton led the communications effort for the museum’s Daniel Libeskind-designed expansion project including local, national and international media relations, marketing and community programs through its opening in 2006. Following the opening of the Hamilton Building, Fulton led marketing and communications for the new campus, building the museum’s brand identity and visitor participation to new highs. Fulton became deputy director and chief marketing officer in 2012 and, after overseeing a museum-wide visioning and campus master planning process, took on responsibility for the extensive renovation of the 210,000 square-foot North Building and the design and construction of a new 50,000 square-foot welcome center. Slated to begin opening to the public in 2020 but delayed due to the pandemic, the $150 million project redefines how the museum interfaces with the neighborhood and community and provides a new platform for connecting, engaging and inspiring visitors through creativity. Her current role further focuses on institutional strategy, including the Museum’s response to the COVID-19 crisis and its work to prioritize equity, diversity and inclusion internally and externally.
Fulton currently serves on the board of the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation and the advisory board for Cleo Parker Robinson Dance. She was a 2016 Livingston Fellow and was recognized in 2019 as one of the Top 25 Most Powerful Women in Business by the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce and as an Outstanding Woman in Business by the Denver Business Journal.
