Maria currently manages Adelante Community Development a nonprofit organization she founded to advocate for health equity and economic justice for Spanish-speaking Latinos in Colorado. She is currently an undergraduate student at Metropolitan State University pursuing her Entrepreneurship degree.
Maria is recognized for her work during the COVID-19 Pandemic, as a Community Hero by The American Red Cross 2022 Rocky Mountain Heroes, 2021 Mayor's Diversity & Inclusion Awards by City and County of Denver, Jefferson Latino Democrats, Community Leader by the Hispanic Star, Community Impact Award by the Center for Health, Work & Environment, Colorado School of Public Health, CU Anschutz Medical Campus
Maria previously owned and operated Gonzalez Insurance Group for 13 years, focused on small business insurance needs.
Maria is currently appointed by the governor as a member of the Minority Office Business Advisory Council, the Colorado's Premium Cost Containment board, and New American Community Advisory Committee. Maria currently sits on the board of Colorado Latino Leadership Advocacy & Research Organization (CLLARO), CEDS Finance and Rocky Mountain Partnership. Maria has served on over 25 community boards and collaborative coalitions focused on health equity, economic justice, and social change.
