Culture Club Member Event

For this week’s CultureHop, Culture Club Members will be hopping over to local artist Kimberly Faber’s studio for a tour and inside look at her artistic process and stunning work.

Artist Statement: With concept as priority, I offer subversive examples of societal “norms” and expectations, highlighting the inherent absurdism of the structures that hold us in place. My working concepts often come into being through preoccupation with and examination of elements of the collective experience that I find peculiar. Finding the root in an inversion of the norm, a hypocrisy, the associated slang and idioms, or even a surprising element of preliminary research, I then develop these working concepts through extensive research and inquiry as I seek the patterns, consistencies, and gaps within experiences that appear, at surface, to be universal, but in reality, are not. These develop into something of a theory and challenge to what we believe we know to be true, resulting in a tension that cannot always be contained within the frame, one that most often requires a viewer.

About CultureHop:

The Biennial of the Americas' CultureHop program is designed to bring Culture Club members closer to the vibrant art and cultural scenes across the Americas right here in Denver. CultureHop invites participants to join curated Friday morning tours of artist studios, galleries, museums, and cultural spaces. Each week, members will "hop" between different creative venues, offering them an intimate and behind-the-scenes experience with local artists, curators, and cultural leaders. Meetups will feature coffee and pastries from local coffee shops.

The program provides a unique opportunity to engage with local artists, spaces and galleries to explore diverse cultural expressions, and foster meaningful connections within the arts community. It's a great way for art enthusiasts and cultural explorers to stay connected to the creative pulse of Denver and build greater appreciation for the Americas.
